Donation Limits

Only individuals who are resident in Ontario may make donations to a municipal campaign. An individual may contribute a maximum of $1,200 to a single candidate.

An individual may not contribute more than $5,000 in total to candidates running for offices on the same council or school board, or to third-party advertisers who are registered in the same municipality.

Contributions Over $100

Under the Municipal Elections Act, if total contributions to this campaign exceed $100, the donor’s name and address will be publicly listed on the candidate's financial statement.

Receipts

Contribution receipts are not tax receipts. Donations to trustee campaigns are not eligible for the City of Toronto election rebate.
