Message from Weidong
My name is Weidong Pei and I am a general dental practitioner and a proud 19 year resident of Willowdale. I am running to be your next Trustee for Ward 4 - York Centre & Willowdale.
In 2022, I was elected on a message of change, defeating TDSB Board Chair Alexander Brown. In 2025, we got it done and reversed the TDSB lottery.
I’m running again to keep up the good fight for students in York Centre & Willowdale and advocate for a TDSB that puts student achievement & wellbeing first.
Priorities: Strong Schools & Responsible Governance.
Academic Excellence: focus on student learning, literacy, numeracy, and real academic achievement.
Safe Schools: keep schools safe and free from geopolitical conflicts.
More Classroom Funding: reduce bureaucracy and direct resources to students and teachers.
Accountable Governance: ensure transparency and responsible decision-making at the board.
Parents as Partners: make sure parental voices are heard and respected.
My Track Record
Restored merit in specialized programs by overturning the lottery system
Protected school identities by stopping unnecessary school renaming
Strengthened accountability and transparency at the board
Defended parent fundraising by stopping the taxation of School Council fundraising
Improved school safety by establishing partnership with Toronto Police Service (TPS)
Celebrated multiculturalism by launching annual celebrations for Asian Heritage Month, Chinese Heritage Month, and Hindu Heritage Month
Advocated consistently for student success and academic excellence
Eliminating portables at both Hollywood and McKee Public Schools and built new gym for Hollywood Public School and additional classrooms at both schools
Relocated Avondale Alternative Schools successfully to create more learning space for Avondale Public School
